My Life is...

...insane, or maybe it's just me that' s insane. Yesterday I spent the whole day making Christmas treats. The kids were so antsy so I made some popcorn and turned on "Finding Nemo". I gave them each a bowl of popcorn and we sat down on the couch together. I left the room to use the bathroom for one minute (literally, it was one minute) and Palmer came running back to the bathroom shouting, "It's stuck!!! It's Stuck!!" He kept rubbing his nose. So, I looked up his nose and, behold, my son stuck a popcorn kernel up his nose. It must have been a big one because he couldn't blow it out. I tried to get it out with tweezers but he wouldn't hold still. So we went to the doctor. It took four nurses and the doctor to hold him down while they got the offending kernel out. The second it was out, he was fine (he was fine before, I was the one freaking out until I discovered that he could still breathe). To him, it was a fun trip because he walked away with a lollipop and got to go outside in the snow. It was great fun.

Needless to say, it took me a little longer than I thought to finish all the treats. While I was trying to pin down my son to attack his nose, I burnt some toffee and spent over an hour scrubbing the pan to get the blackened sugar off the bottom. It was a great day!

What was most surprising to me was that palmer got the kernel stuck up his nose and not portia. Siblings sure do learn from eachother.

wow! How adventurous. John got something stuck up his nose in kindergarten and they went and got his sister from 3rd grade to the office with him. She was like...what am I supposed to do?? :) Bummer about the toffee too!
