Palmer's Birthday

In addition to the craziness of baby blessings, vacation, and getting ready for the move, Palmer celebrated his 5th birthday. We had cake and ice cream when everyone was here for Teya's blessing (and no doubt Nona and Papa will do something in Oregon, too). He was perfectly satisfied with having his cousins and friends around for cake. He had lots of help blowing out candles.
On Monday, his actual birth day, we took him to Fat Cats to go bowling. Now, if you know Palmer, you know he was in heaven. Not only does he love to bowl, he asks to go to Fat Cats virtually every time we drive by it....which is often, as it's right near Provo's main thoroughfare. I'm sad that all the pictures of his bowling skills were blurry. However, here is evidence that he rocked the bowling game.

In addition, the poor kid had his kindergarten check up on Tuesday. He was a tough kid and got three shots. Okay, not really, he cried for about five minutes after. But when he was told he didn't have to have any more shots until he was 12 and he got a treat, he was fine. He showed his bandaids to everyone everywhere. He's healthy and growing: he's 42 inches tall (75 %ile) and weighs 45 lbs (75 %ile).

I'm so grateful for such a kind son as our first child. With all he's gone through in the past six months, I'm amazed at his progress and his resilience. I'm grateful for his inquisitive mind and his caring heart. I'm grateful for the laughter he brings to our home and for the kind and thoughtful things he does. I have learned so much from this amazing child and I can't wait to see what he teaches us next. Happy Birthday Palmer! We love you.

Happy Birthday to Palmer! This little kids are growing up so fast...5!!! I still remember coming over to the condo and seeing you both right after he was born. In many ways it doesn't seem so long ago!
